My journey as an immigrant
I hope this message finds you well. I want to share with you my journey as an immigrant, which began when I arrived in this country at the age of 16. It has been a challenging journey, especially learning the language and adapting to new customs without the guidance of parents or adults. One of the greatest challenges I faced was the loneliness that many immigrants experience. That loneliness led me to use alcohol as a companion during my youth, and I became an alcoholic at a young age. It was one of the biggest challenges of my life. In 1991, I was able to achieve sobriety. Now, at 64 years old, I am proud to say that I have been sober for over three decades, and I will be celebrating my birthday soon in June.
