PRESS RELEASE

Germán Angel Shares His Story of Sobriety and Community Leadership on a Special Public Television Program
Long Beach, California – February 28

Renowned independent public television producer Germán Angel, with over 20 years of professional experience and a distinguished record of community service, will participate this Saturday, February 28, in a special recording at the PADNET.TV studios. The program will be broadcast on Long Beach community television channels Spectrum 32 and Frontier 41.

This new awareness campaign will be hosted by Luis Ramírez, influencer and Multimedia Journalist to a leading Colombian magazine. During the program, Germán Angel will share his inspiring personal story of sobriety, describing how he overcame alcohol consumption from a young age and how this transformative experience positively impacted his personal, family, and professional life.

Preventing Underage Alcohol Consumption: An Urgent Message

The program will be in Spanish and focus on the prevention of alcohol use among minors, a topic of critical social and public health importance. Through an engaging and educational discussion, the show will address the physical, mental, and emotional risks that alcohol consumption poses to children and adolescents, as well as the importance of early and consistent education directed at youth, parents, schools, and community leaders.

The recording will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last approximately one hour. Special guests from the Long Beach community will participate, offering diverse perspectives on prevention, social responsibility, and the creation of safe and healthy environments for young people. In the United States, alcohol consumption by individuals under 21 is illegal, except for very specific exceptions, and remains a deeply rooted cultural challenge. Therefore, a sustained and coordinated effort among parents, educators, local organizations, and community leaders is essential to promote prevention from an early age throughout adolescence.

Recognition and Community Leadership

Germán Angel received the Outstanding Parent Award from Woodrow Wilson High School, where his three children attended secondary education. This award recognizes over twelve years of active participation in school life, including his work with the PTA, Student Council, and direct collaboration with teachers, administrators, and families.

One of his most significant contributions was the creation of a Latino parents’ group, providing support and guidance to help families better understand the U.S. educational system and foster more active engagement in their children’s education. Today, the results are evident: all three of his children are professionals contributing positively to society.

Additionally, Germán Angel served as President of the Los Angeles Colombo Americano Rotary Club for the 2022–2023 term, solidifying his commitment to community service, leadership, and multicultural integration.
