The Transformation of the Digital World: Why I Can’t Stop Using Artificial Intelligence

Last week, one of my adult sons read something I had written and said to me with confidence: “Dad, you should stop using ChatGPT.”   Audio en Español

My response was simple: I can’t stop using this tool. Not because I depend on it, but because it represents something much bigger a new transformation of the world, very similar to what happened when the mobile phone first appeared.

I remember when the first mobile phones came out. They were big, expensive, and only a few people used them. At that time many people said they were unnecessary, that the phone at home was enough. But as time passed, technology improved, prices went down, and today even children have their own phones. What once seemed like a luxury or a strange idea became part of everyday life.

Something very similar is happening today with artificial intelligence.

Tools like ChatGPT are changing the way people work, study, research, and communicate. It’s not about replacing human thinking, but about expanding our capabilities, helping us become more efficient, creative, and productive.

One of the biggest benefits of this technology is saving time. Many tasks that once took hours  writing emails, creating articles, preparing scripts, or generating reports  can now be done in just minutes. In addition, it works like an assistant available 24 hours a day, ready to help whenever we need it.

Another important advantage is creative support. For those of us who write articles, produce content, or work with ideas, artificial intelligence can be a great ally. It can suggest angles, improve writing style, correct grammar, and even translate content into different languages. For many creators, it has become a true creative partner.

But the revolution does not stop there. New tools are also emerging that complement this growing AI ecosystem. A good example is NotebookLM, a platform that helps organize information, analyze documents, and transform large amounts of content into clear summaries and insights. For researchers, journalists, students, or entrepreneurs, tools like this make it easier to study long documents, compare ideas, and better understand complex topics.

In the business world, artificial intelligence is also creating important changes. Entrepreneurs can use AI tools to write proposals, prepare sales strategies, respond to customers, and analyze information. For small businesses and independent professionals, this can mean reducing costs while increasing productivity.

Education is another field where this technology is having a significant impact. ChatGPT can act as a personal tutor, explaining complex concepts in simple ways, summarizing long texts, and helping students prepare for exams. Combined with tools like NotebookLM, students can analyze books, documents, and research materials in a much more organized and efficient way.

Another important aspect is accessibility. These tools are available to almost anyone. There is a free version that only requires an email account to begin using many of its basic features. There are also advanced versions that offer faster performance and additional capabilities.

Of course, like every new technology, artificial intelligence also creates debate. Some people feel concerned or resistant to change. The same thing happened with the internet, smartphones, and many other innovations that today we consider normal parts of life.

History shows us that every generation experiences its own technological revolution. Television, Pagers (or beepers), the personal computer, the internet, and the mobile phone transformed the world. Today we are witnessing another major transformation: the age of artificial intelligence.

So when my son tells me to stop using ChatGPT, I simply smile. Not because he is wrong, but because I know we are at the beginning of something that, in a few years, will be as common as using a phone or sending a message.

The world keeps changing. And those who learn to use new tools don’t just adapt to change  they help shape the future. 🚀
